Right now would be a good time to ask for a locket if you’re interested maybe your Valentine could get you one. I tend to lean more toward the vintage style ones for myself but there’s so many out there to pick from. I’m not sure if lockets are in fashion right now or if they ever go out of style but when I was out looking there seem to be several kinds on the market. I like a longer chain and this one hits just below the breast area. I have an upcoming fashion post where you can see how it hangs. I love my gift and wear it almost everyday. All you have to do is pick the size that fits your locket when it arrives.

I also found a place called LOCKET PRINTS where you can upload your photos and they will mail you a full sheet of the same photo in several sizes made just for lockets. I ended up going with the store prints on matte paper for my final project. And the ones on the right were printed at home on glitter paper from a Canon printer. The ones in the middle I copied to a flash drive and had printed at our local grocery store on matte photo paper. The ones on the left were printed on cardstock paper at home from a Canon printer. What a brilliant idea right? I decided to try different printing methods to see what I liked the best. A place called LOCKET STUDIO already took all the guesswork out of it and created this handy site where I uploaded my photos, picked the locket size and shape that I have, and just like magic my photos become a downloadable jpg for me to print or have sent by email. Well what do you know? There is a way to get the right size photo shape and fit for the locket I have. I started looking through my photo library in Lightroom to find two photos I thought would work when I decided this was silly there has to be a way to get the photo size right the first time without printing several copies in an attempt to get it right. I was thinking it would be easier to find a photo in the correct size. With age I can’t see the detail in little objects anymore and I liked the idea of an oval shape instead. We picked a day, returned the original locket, and I picked out this rather large one instead. He was fine with that since I had to wear it not him.
He originally got me a heart shaped locket that was pretty small in yellow gold and I don’t wear anything but silver so I asked him if we could return it and get something bigger and in sterling silver. As a result of that hubby purchased me a locket for Christmas to display both boys’ photos in to keep close to my heart.

You don’t have to use photos though! I made one using this “Choose Joy” image….feel free to save the one below and use it for your own! The background is a bokeh filter from Paint the Moon.I told you in an earlier post that my family had had a hard end of 2015 and we did. Once the squares were completely dry, I used a needle to poke through the glaze through the drilled hole and I added a simple jump ring! See how the glaze dries with a three dimensional look? Once it was completely dry, I added one more layer.
Then I used Aleene’s Paper Glaze (or you can use Diamond Glaze)…….

I also put a thin coat of Mod Podge over the images to keep the ink from running. ….and glued each image to a wood square using Mod Podge. Once I printed off my images I carefully cut each one out…. Once your collage is laid out and perfectly heart-shaped, its time to print it and fill that empty space in dire need of. Print your heart-shaped collage to share good vibes all around.

(Note: if you have a Mac I bought the Microsoft Office Student-Teacher version for under $100…it was worth it.) Plenty of images are available for free and premium images are only 1, so there’s no reason not to include even the silliest loves in your collage. You can use any other image editor if you don’t have Powerpoint. To easily and quickly resize the images I dragged them into Microsoft Powerpoint. Some of them I drilled at the corner (for charms) and others in the top middle (for pendants): I used a tiny drill bit on my household drill to drill a hole through the wood. I used a large (finger) nail file to sand the edges to make sure each piece was perfectly square and smooth: This is the best way to cut them without weakening the wood. I used a razor to score both sides of the stick first and then actually cut through.
How did we do it? First I took jumbo sized popsicle sticks from the 99 cent store and cut them into square pieces. They were so easy to make we made a “swarm” of them.
